I am passionate about helping writers polish their work so that it engages and absorbs their readership.
I have trained in copyediting, proofreading and manuscript evaluation and I take part in continuing professional development. As a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), I abide by the CIEP Code of Practice.
I ran my own indie publishing house, Eyrie Press, for eight years, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the company, including the editing, proofreading and book design. Running a small indie press is very much like self-publishing, so I know exactly how it feels!
I currently run PinPoint, a magazine dedicated to geocaching, with my colleague and lifelong friend, Andy.
Outside of publishing, I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Southampton and a master’s in forensic psychological studies from the Open University. I have a background in various fields, including retail management, IT support and not-for-profit organisations. I also have a great interest in alternative education, having home educated my own four children for 15 years.
When I have spare time away from being an editor and proofreader I enjoy gaming, pub quizzes (both taking part and setting!), reading (more books!), baking bread and running (to work off all the bread!).
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
