Book Coaching: The Skills Package
Are you struggling to understand certain elements of writing craft? Maybe you’ve had some feedback on your manuscript which has highlighted aspects of your novel that need work, but you’re not sure how to tackle them? Do you know you could be a better writer if you could work on these areas?
The Skills Package is a bespoke service which can cover whatever you’d like it to! You might want help with big-picture issues (such as plot, story structure or point of view) or with line-level issues (such as sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and dialogue). Or a mixture of both.
How does coaching work?
Coaching takes place over Zoom. I’ll set up the meetings and send you details of how to join them. You don’t need your own Zoom account.
Sessions are a combination of teaching and mentoring: questions from you, some explanation from me, and discussion between us. I won’t tell you what to do (although I will use my editorial knowledge and experience to advise you). Instead, I’ll help you understand and explore the areas of writing craft you want to focus on.
I’ll also set assignments which will cover aspects we’ve discussed in the sessions and give you an opportunity to put what you’ve learnt into practice, with feedback from me. You can use your own work for these, or I can provide exercises.
By the end of your sessions, you’ll be more confident in your knowledge of writing craft and in making creative decisions, and a better writer.
How many sessions can I have?
You can book a four-session package or a six-session package. We can discuss this in your introductory session and decide together.
When your sessions have finished, you are welcome to book for another set.
How do we start?
Click the link below to book your introductory session during which we can identify your needs and goals. After that, I’ll create your bespoke session plan and send it to you. There’s no obligation to go ahead at that point, but if you decide to, you can then book in your sessions. I offer a variety of days and times, including evenings and weekends.

What’s included?

An initial hour-long introductory session over Zoom to identify your needs and set goals
-
Subsequent hour-long sessions (usually fortnightly, but not necessarily)
-

-
Marked assignments between the sessions
-
